In order to promote excellent traditional Chinese culture, give international students an immersive experience of the unique charm of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and strengthen exchanges between Chinese and international students, the International College held a Mid-Autumn Festival get-together for Chinese and international students on the afternoon of September 23.
At the beginning of the event, He Bingli, teacher of cultural courses for international students, delivered a lecture on the Mid-Autumn Festival. The lecture introduced the festival’s origins, traditional customs, and classic folk legends such as Hou Yi Shooting Down the Suns and Chang’e Flying to the Moon, allowing international students to appreciate Chinese-style romance and the appeal of traditional culture.

After the lecture, a series of fun-filled Mid-Autumn-themed games kicked off. Students were divided into two teams, Team Chang’e and Team Jade Rabbit, and took part in a lantern riddle quick-answer contest, a chopstick ping-pong ball relay, and a traditional pitch-pot game. Chinese and international students worked together, cooperated closely, and competed with enthusiasm, creating a lively atmosphere.

The most anticipated session—making snow-skin mooncakes by hand—came as the finale. Dough, fillings, mooncake molds, and other materials were fully prepared at the venue. Under the guidance of teachers, Chinese and international students worked in groups to make Mid-Autumn mooncakes with their own hands. The atmosphere was warm and cheerful. Through hands-on practice, participants experienced Mid-Autumn folk customs, and through cooperation, they drew closer to one another.

This Mid-Autumn get-together, with the traditional festival as a bond, integrated cultural learning, fun competition, and hands-on practice into one event, featuring diverse formats and a strong festive atmosphere. It not only helped international students further understand and immersively experience Mid-Autumn culture and feel the beautiful festive spirit of reunion, but also built a good platform for exchange and interaction between Chinese and international students, enhancing friendship among students of different nationalities.
