SUZHOU GLOBAL INSTITUTE (SGI)

Suzhou Global Institute , hereinafter “SGI”, is a three-year vocational college established with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial Government and registered by Chinese Ministry of Education as a full-time institution of higher education in 2007. Consisting of six schools, namely, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, School of Arts & Creative Design, School of Medicine, School of Business, and School of Humanities & Social Sciences, SGI has been delivering, to the satisfaction of all its stakeholders, a diverse corpus of diploma-offering course programs, including electronics and information, mechatronics and automation, medicine and health, finance and commerce, business and tourism, culture and art, sports and education, public management and service, etc. Currently, a 600-strong faculty and staff are servicing a 13,000-student body in their drive toward a bright future.

The university adheres to a student-centered approach, continuously deepening the integration of industry and education while strengthening school-enterprise cooperation to enhance the quality of talent cultivation. The graduate employment rate has remained stable at over 95% for many consecutive years, ranking among the top in similar institutions within the province.

SGI has always attached great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, and has established friendly relationships with dozens of universities and colleges around the world. The university actively promotes an internationalization strategy in education, establishing programs such as the Faculty Overseas Visiting and Research Project and conducting student exchange or joint training programs with over ten universities in countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. It collaborates with the University of the West Indies in the Caribbean region on The UWI China Institute of Information Technology (UWICIIT), recruiting students from UWI to study in Suzhou. The university is designated as a Study in Jiangsu target institution and has been honored as  Jiangsu Province Advanced Unit for International Education Cooperation and Exchange”.

SGI is located in Suzhou Science & Technology Town in Suzhou, a major economic and cultural center of China, known for its rich history, picturesque environment, well-developed economy and high standard of living. With Suzhou Science & Technology Town taking the initiative, in recent years, to develop such emerging high-tech fields as technology transformation-upgrading, big data and cloud computing, intelligent manufacturing, medical equipment production, modern service and creative cultural industry, a large number of innovation centers, research institutes and high-tech enterprises have been locating their R&D and production facilities in the neighborhood, hence both providing rich resources and placing SGI on a unique regional vantage point to meet the needs of the regional-local economy and culture with its future entrepreneurs,technicians and talents of the various arts.
